Orca first out of the water
Races

There was a theme of "first out of the water" and "second overall" this weekend for our Orca athletes!
There were two big races on at the same time this past weekend, with most notably Susie Cheetham returning to defend her title at Ironman 70.3 Norway in Haugesund, and Sebastian Kienle defending his European Ironman Champion title at Ironman Frankfurt.
There were two big races on at the same time this past weekend, with most notably Susie Cheetham returning to defend her 2014 title at Ironman 70.3 Norway in Haugesund, and Sebastian Kienle defending his European Ironman Champion title at Ironman Frankfurt.
In Norway, we had two Team Orca members competing - with Asa Lundstrom lining up next to Susie. It was on the bike that these two both really shone coming first and second off the bike respectively but with two other competitors right up there with them. This was a superb come-back for Asa after a 29:23 swim with her bike time of 2:23:38 being the fastest women's bike split of the day and bringing her back into real contention. Eva Wutti was right there with Asa and Susie off the bike too though and soon started to turn up the power on the run, eventually winning the competition in a time of 4:15:32. Susie finished second in 4:18:53 and Asa just missed out on the podium finishing 4th in a time of 4:22:10. Although we're sure Susie was hoping to make it another victory, 2nd place was still a great result.
Over in Germany, reigning champ and Orca athlete Sebastian Kienle also had to be content with 2nd place at Ironman Frankfurt. The 2014 European Champ exited the water 4mins down on Jan Frodeno in the non-wetsuit swim, and unfortunately was never able to make this up. This was not from lack of performance on Sebi's behalf, as his bike split of 4:11:07 was still faster than his split in the same race in 2014...According to Sebi he "Did all I could but I felt like Icarus, with his wings coated in wax, flying too close to the sun. On a day where Jan had such a great performance, I just wasn't allowed to have any weaknesses." Jan Frodeno's finish time set a new course record for IM Frankfurt - we're sure this will just fire Sebi up more to beat this next year!
