Amanda Negrín: how she reaches a state of total presence through freediving.
Head back to the pool after the summer and reconnect with your senses with Orca: new swimsuits, goggles and accessories for all your training sessions.
The summer is slowly coming to an end. The evenings are getting shorter, routine begins to seep back into daily life and almost without realising it, we’re starting to think about September. For many of us, that means heading back to the pool. After weeks of open water training, crossings, triathlons, holidays and spontaneous swim sessions, the moment has come to return to the lanes, where you peer up at the swim clock and do your turns against the wall.
Being back in the pool doesn’t have to feel like starting from scratch. On the contrary, it’s an opportunity to reconnect with your senses, work on technique, build strength and focus on the goals you laid out before the summer. Maybe you have a competition on the horizon, you’re preparing for your next triathlon season or you just want to enjoy your regular swim sessions again. Whatever the reason, September is a great time to get back in the water.
And there’s the excuse you needed to renew your pool training gear. Orca’s new swimsuit designs have arrived to splash a bit of colour into your routine, combining comfort, support and freedom of movement so that every session feels like a chance to improve.

It’s also a good time to update your goggles - after a summer of salt, sun and open water, going back to the pool requires a pair of goggles that are up to scratch, ready for your new training sessions. The Killa Speed goggles are a lightweight and ergonomic option for pool sessions and short distances, with different lens options and three sizes of nose bridge so that you can find a comfortable and secure fit. And for those of us in search of a model designed to take performance a step further, the Killa Performance goggles offer a hydrodynamic and ergonomic design, with long-lasting anti-fog treatment and different coloured lenses.
That brings us to the accessories that set the scene at any swimming pool. Your board awaits on the poolside, helping to isolate your leg work, your pull buoy at the ready for your next series, allowing you to concentrate on your body position and arm work, and your fins nearby to turn a few simple metres into an opportunity for you to improve your kick. It’s not about filling your swim bag with gear, but about having the tools at hand that truly help you to improve your technique.

And this is when, suddenly, your bag is ready to go again - swimsuit, goggles, hat, board, pull buoy, fins and water bottle. Maybe a towel and that playlist you only listen to on your way to training. The ritual begins again. First, a few easy strokes to get started. Then, a series, and another, followed by another. Your body remembers what it seemed to have forgotten and slowly but surely, you get back into the rhythm.
Because going back to the pool after the summer doesn’t mean you have to leave your experiences over the last few months behind - it’s an invitation to gather it all up and use it as a starting point. Every summer gives us new experiences and challenges, and usually, another goal on the horizon. Now it’s time to get back in the water, establish your new routine and start laying the foundations for everything that will follow.
September is just the first length.
