Orca launches the newest wetsuit concept to the market: an openwater wetsuit with built-in technology that will increase the level of safety for swimmers at sea. The combination of safety and technology has led us to create the new Openwater SW, a limited edition wetsuit that will only be available to the first users to purchase at Orca.com.

This wetsuit features Emerid, a universal identification system using NFC/Contactless technology that instantly provides the athlete's information in the event of an accident or emergency, without the need for batteries or a downloaded application. By placing a mobile phone near the wetsuit's device, a page will be opened showing the vital data needed for fast medical assistance. This page also includes the location and training time, as well as other details that will be developed and updated later. Upon receiving the information from the Internet, it will not be necessary to download or update the application, the web page itself will be updated with the new information.

The Emerid system can be used with any NFC-compatible Smartphone with Internet access. One of the recent developments has been the feature in which after the training minutes have been set, if the swimmer has not stopped the clock, the system will reach the emergency contact, previously indicated by the swimmer, via email. However, the Emerid team continues to work on new developments to incorporate into the Openwater SW wetsuit's device.

In addition to this system, the wetsuit incorporates velcro so you can add the Restube Ready buoy without needing a belt to stabilize it while you swim, allowing you to glide through the water comfortably. Light and compact, it features an emergency whistle, keeping you feeling safe at sea.

To make you feel even safer in the water, this wetsuit has been designed with a high visibility orange that will make you visible to boats and other swimmers, so you can be located at any time.

The 3-4 mm thickness of the abdominal area will provide the thermal insulation you need, helping you maintain an ideal body temperature throughout your journey. This thickness will also give you the buoyancy you need to feel comfortable and confident in the water.

The combination of different thicknesses of the neoprene panels allows for a more elastic material to be placed in the arm area to increase flexibility in swim strokes. You can swim comfortably without the neoprene restricting your shoulders and arms.

This product's unique design is based on the best materials available on the market. Orca works closely with Yamamoto Corporation to develop new materials for its wetsuits, such as Yamamoto 44 Cell or 0.88 Free. It is also the only brand that is certified to make all its suits using exclusively Yamamoto material, ensuring the highest quality in all its wetsuits.

Yamamoto Corporation was the first manufacturer to develop neoprene from limestone, thus avoiding the use of oil, as was done until then. This was revolutionary in the sector, as it meant an improvement in material performance: limestone neoprene is more waterproof, lightweight and durable than oil-based neoprene, as well as providing more warmth and flexibility in its use. For this and other achievements, the Japanese company has been a pioneer in the quality and innovation of the wetsuit industry, thanks to its advanced production techniques and its high processing capacity.

How to measure yourself

For best results, take your measurements with no clothing on

Place the measuring tape over the widest part of your chest.

Hold one end of the measuring tape in place and circle your chest, keeping the tape straight, until the tape reaches your starting point.

Get a book, a hand mirror and a pencil.

Take off your shoes and anything you wear on your head.

Look for a level surface to stand on with a smooth wall behind you.

Stand in front of the wall with your feet together.

Balance the book on your head and press it against the wall. Use the mirror to check that it is in a horizontal position and well centered. Mark the position of the top of your head on the wall with pencil.

Once the mark is made, step away and use a measuring tape to measure the distance from the ground to the mark you just made with pencil.

Step on the scale, without clothes or accessories, and write down your weight.
