When we think of surfing, our minds transport us to a beach with warm water, tanned skin and eternal summers. Although the sport was originally limited to these sorts of environments, surfing’s growth throughout the years has taken it to beaches all over the world, with all their variants. Conserving body heat in the water then became one of the objectives of innovation in the materials and equipment dedicated to surfing. With this wetsuit we’re raising the technicality so far present in a product exclusively designed for surfing in cold water.
Kabuki 5:3 UZIP is the newest and most exclusive suit in the Orca Surf range. Handmade one by one in Japan, the highest quality materials are used in order to guarantee an excellent thermal comfort, together with the highest degree of elasticity, durability and versatility season after season.
The technologies and materials in the Kabuki 5:3 UZIP provide the best thermal comfort and maximum elasticity. The 5mm thick neoprene in the legs and torso invariably retains the surfer’s body heat during the longest sessions, while the 3mm neoprene in the shoulders and arms allow a total range of movement without restrictions.
Despite its 3mm thick neoprene in the shoulders and arms, the wetsuit’s thermal comfort isn’t affected, thanks to the Smoothskin finish in the upper torso. This technology uses exclusive, super elastic Japanese neoprene, limestone-based, that, combined with its high-performing thermal inner lining, results in a very elastic suit with superior protection against the cold, humidity and wind.
On top of this, with the aim of going beyond creating the most comfortable and highest performing surf wetsuit on the market, the Kabuki 5:3 UZIP incorporates a Wide Comfort Fit design. This technology gives the wetsuit a more relaxed fit in the shoulders and underarms, which provides surfers with a much higher range of movement and comfort, while at the same time allowing them to paddle more easily and with less resistance.
Besides its use of the most advanced materials available that make it possible to retain body heat for much longer, this suit also uses a number of technologies that prevent water from entering the suit. To name a few: on the one hand, the Hybrid U Zip closure system, which offers a superior seal that prevents cold water from filtering into the suit through the zip, while also making it easier for the surfer to get in and out of the suit. On the other hand, the Non Stitch seamless construction in the lower part of the suit also stops water filtration through the seams, while providing superior elasticity and comfort. It’s also necessary to point out that these Non Stitch seams, like the rest of the GBS+ seams, use top quality Japanese adhesive. The combination of all these technologies together with the neoprene’s Smoothskin finish in the wrists forms Supreme Seal technology, making it practically impossible for water to filter into the suit.
Finally, it also needs to be highlighted that the Kabuki 5:3 UZIP uses Thermal X2 FD technology, owing to its high-performing thermal layer that retains body heat more efficiently, minimises water entry and dries incredibly fast. If all this wasn’t enough, its inner fabric is made up of recycled materials and has a soft and pleasant texture, providing a high degree of comfort.
