Which swimming goggles are right for you?

Knowing how to choose the right goggles for your needs will translate into a better experience in the water, both at sea and in the pool.

My alarm clock is set for early tomorrow morning, so I pack up my swimming bag the night before. It's a chance to reorganize my equipment. As winter approaches and triathlon season draws to a close, at least in this part of the world, there are only a few events left on the calendar. That's why I decide to keep my racing goggles with my wetsuit. I have one pair for swimming sessions and another for shorter distances. My pool goggles on the other hand, the ones I feel most comfortable in, are made of clear glass, because I train in a pool that is quite dark and I prefer to have better visibility. It may seem like I'm just being particular, but the truth is that choosing the right swimming goggles for the environment, and even the weather conditions, can greatly improve your experience in the water, and sometimes even make or break you in open water competitions.

At Orca, we have a model of goggles to suit your needs, which may vary depending on the time and place.

The Killa 180 goggles are our high-performance goggles. These multi-purpose goggles with an ergonomic construction will improve your performance in the water. Various characteristics make these a good choice. They are hydrodynamically designed to glide through the water. Excellent optical clarity also makes them versatile for both training and racing.

The Killa Speed goggles are designed for short-distance races. They are lightweight, ergonomic, and hydrodynamic. Different lenses are available so that they can adapt to the current weather conditions. You can also choose between three different sized nose pieces to best suit the shape of your face.

For the longest races, the Killa Vision swimming goggles offer a panoramic view and are very closely fitted, reducing pressure around the eyes and providing comfort throughout your race. Another feature that we should highlight are the numerous lenses available, so you can choose ones that best suit the current weather conditions.

If you plan to regularly frequent the pool over the next few months and want goggles for heavy use that are small, light, comfortable, and that won't fog up, the Killa Hydro goggles are everything you're looking for. These goggles are treated with an exclusive, long-lasting anti-fog coating that will prevent your goggles from fogging up and allow you to see clearly during your entire workout.

For the swimmer who prioritizes comfort above all else, the Killa Mask goggles are a great alternative to most classic swimming goggles. They have a lightweight, durable mask, with larger, hard polycarbonate lenses and a large field of vision. The goggles' structure seals to the face, preventing pressure and markings around the eye area.

There may be more than one model that suits your preferences, depending on the context in which you are going to use your goggles. We recommend that you choose a model that fits comfortably, both around the eyes and on the bridge of your nose. To make your favorite goggles last much longer, always rinse them after swimming in the sea and store them in the fabric bag that comes packaged with them, to avoid scratches on the lenses.

How to measure yourself

For best results, take your measurements with no clothing on

Place the measuring tape over the widest part of your chest.

Hold one end of the measuring tape in place and circle your chest, keeping the tape straight, until the tape reaches your starting point.

Get a book, a hand mirror and a pencil.

Take off your shoes and anything you wear on your head.

Look for a level surface to stand on with a smooth wall behind you.

Stand in front of the wall with your feet together.

Balance the book on your head and press it against the wall. Use the mirror to check that it is in a horizontal position and well centered. Mark the position of the top of your head on the wall with pencil.

Once the mark is made, step away and use a measuring tape to measure the distance from the ground to the mark you just made with pencil.

Step on the scale, without clothes or accessories, and write down your weight.
