BE CREATIVE AND UPCYCLE!

In a world where we are consuming more and more, upcycling is essential to reduce waste by reusing our resources.

Globally, more than 2.1 billion tonnes of waste are produced each year, which would fill more than 800,000 Olympic swimming pools.

Reuse means avoiding generating waste, giving a second life to existing products and doing our bit to promote a more sustainable awareness.

Unfortunately, the current process for Recycling neoprene is not an optimal solution due to the high carbon footprint it generates, and the low percentage of material that can actually be recycled.”

However, contributing is possible for everyone, and through simple and easy actions we can avoid generating even more waste and rubbish that ends up damaging the environment.

An old wetsuit, or an old backpack, contain really useful materials that can be easily transformed into new objects that we can use in our daily lives.

Join us and use the hashtag #OrcaUpcyclingAward to share your creative ways of giving your used sports equipment a second life, and take part in the competition to win an Openwater kit.
