Weekend Race Results

From London, to Brazil, to the beautiful Salou in Spain, Orca athletes were out in force this weekend with some great results achieved!

From London, to Brazil, to the beautiful Salou in Spain, Orca athletes were out in force this weekend with some great results achieved!

In London for the World Triathlon Series race, German athlete Sophia Saller and Kiwi Sophie Corbidge outdid themselves with 10th and 11th place in what was just their second and first respectively WTS race ever! Sophia described the swim as "one of the most brutal I've ever had" - even ending up swimming underneath another girl at one point! Luckily she and Sophie were able to jump on their bikes together and catch the chase pack to then endure a fast and painful run to their respective placings.

For Sophie coming into the race being ranked 59th, 11th place really was an incredible result! Sophie had this to say about her race: "Going into the race, I was confident that I could put on a good show because I had been feeling great since my last race in Chengdu. It was my first time racing in my new Orca Alpha wetsuit, and wow that suit is flexible! That's something really important for me because I suffer from tight shoulder and back issues. I came out midfield in the swim then powered my way onto the bunch during the first lap of the bike. Running out of T2, I just put my head down and ran as fast as possible for as long as possible." This is an exciting start to the season for both of these girls and we look forward to seeing them racing again soon! In the Paratriathlon PT3 race in London Spanish athlete Dani Molina continued his outstanding results so far this season with a 2nd place, seeing him on the podium yet again for this season!

Over in Florianopolis Brazil, Asa Lundstrom got off to a slower start in the swim but more than made up for this on the bike, posting the fastest bike split of the day for the pro women with a 4:48:36. At 3 miles into the run Asa had the lead and things were looking promising but an unfortunate stomach issue saw her drop back through the run to finish in 9th place. Great for Asa to have such a stunning bike leg and we can only look forward to what she can do when everything also goes well for her nutritionally on the run!

In Spain, Susie Cheetham performed really well at Challenge Salou on a course that suited her strengths - with a very hilly course! This worked in Susie's favour with a stunning 2nd place that was oh so close to being 1st!

How to measure yourself

For best results, take your measurements with no clothing on

Place the measuring tape over the widest part of your chest.

Hold one end of the measuring tape in place and circle your chest, keeping the tape straight, until the tape reaches your starting point.

Get a book, a hand mirror and a pencil.

Take off your shoes and anything you wear on your head.

Look for a level surface to stand on with a smooth wall behind you.

Stand in front of the wall with your feet together.

Balance the book on your head and press it against the wall. Use the mirror to check that it is in a horizontal position and well centered. Mark the position of the top of your head on the wall with pencil.

Once the mark is made, step away and use a measuring tape to measure the distance from the ground to the mark you just made with pencil.

Step on the scale, without clothes or accessories, and write down your weight.
